Portia Cooper is a UArizona computer science student and researcher. Her work to develop neural classifiers that detect hate speech won a national award in 2023. Portia got her start in computer science at UArizona Girls Who Code when she was 12. Now, she is the Lead Facilitator at the club and works with a team of graduate and undergraduate students to provide computer science instruction to 6th-12th graders.
