The Launching Your Career Symposium Was a Success!
On February 4th and 5th, WISE welcomed students from across the University for the 2022 Launching Your Career Symposium. The event included 11 different sessions focused on professional development and provided networking opportunities for female identifying students within STEM fields. With hybrid programming, attendees were able to participate in person on Friday evening which featured panel and informational sessions, as well as a Women in STEM and allies Mixer. All sessions and Saturday programming were also streamed via Zoom for remote participation.
Thank you to the 13 clubs and organizations that joined us for our in-person Women in STEM and allies Mixer on Friday night! Attendees were able to learn about diversity & STEM clubs and organizations on campus and in the Tucson area. Professional headshots were available for attendees, and we welcomed music from Dj Kb in the Environmental and Natural Resources Building (ENR2).
Virtual sessions on Saturday varied in professional development topics from financial literacy, public speaking, interview strategies, and identifying your strengths. Other sessions during the weekend highlighted diversity within the sciences such as out panels centering women of color in higher education, Indigenous students and leaders within the sciences, and topics addressing issues of social equity within the STEM fields.
