WISE Welcomes Gaby Perez Laurent

Aug. 23, 2021

WISE is excited to welcome Gaby Perez Laurent to the WISE team as a Program Coordinator overseeing the Women in STEM Mentorship Program, Launching Your Career Symposium, and monthly Women in STEM Check-ins.  Gaby is originally from Phoenix and recently completed Master’s degrees in Social Work and Women's and Gender Studies at Loyola University in Chicago.

Gaby has spent many years work with university students in a number of capacities including working in university cultural centers in Colorado and Chicago.  She also has spent time engaging in migrant advocacy and humanitarian aid work in Mexico and southern Arizona.  Gaby is excited to bring knowledge of ethnic and gender studies and social justice to her work with WISE.

Gaby will be replacing Erika Nacim who served as a Program Coordinator for WISE for two years.  Erika has received a fellowship to dedicate herself fully to completing her dissertation in the Department of Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona. We greatly appreciate the important work Erika did during her time at WISE, including establishing and growing the mentorship program to serve over 100 students annually.  We are excited to see the important work she does going forward.
