Remembering Dr. Helen S. Schaefer (1933-2022)

We lovingly remember the life and legacy of one of WISE's more prominent supporters, Dr. Helen Schaefer. Many of you are well aware of Dr. Helen Schaefer’s legacy as a UA leader in the UA and Tucson community, but may not know she served on WISE’s advisory board for decades. The Dr. Helen S. Schaefer Scholarship was established to support the persistence of women in STEM fields and remains a vital source of financial support for our UA students.  

Through her leadership, advocacy, and service, Dr. Schaefer cleared the path for a generation of girls and women in STEM here at the University of Arizona.
