Girls Who Code, 2020

Feb. 23, 2020

The University of Arizona Girls Who Code program is going strong in its seventh semester! In the Girls Who Code program, 6th-12th grade girls spend a semester learning the "Core 4" coding concepts. The next semester, the girls apply these skills to build a project as a group.

This year, the students are building a school-themed game in Python. The game features multiple minigames, each themed around a class and coded by one or two girls, that the player must win to progress to the next level. Over the next two semesters, UArizona Girls Who Code is also partnering with CATalyst Studios to hold coding sessions for other groups of girls in town and to offer workshops in laser cutting, 3D printing, virtual reality, and other important technologies!

Any current UArizona students (undergraduate or graduate) who are interested in volunteering with the Girls Who Code program should contact lead facilitator Amanda Bertsch at abertsch@email.arizona.edu.
