Gender, Race, and Environment Panel Series

Feb. 28, 2019

This month, we've been excited to collaborate with environmental organizations from across Tucson to host a series of panels focused on gender, race, and the environment. This series has provided a unique opportunity to talk honestly about the barriers people from marginalized groups face when trying to get involved in environmental organizations or pursue environmental-related careers. At the same time, panelists have importantly highlighted some of the exciting work being done locally to foster more inclusive and diverse environmental science communities.  Organizations represented at these events have included Saguaro National Park, Sky Island Alliance, Sierra Club, Tierra y Libertad Organization, Latino Outdoors, Watershed Management Group, and UA Schools of Natural Resources and the Environment and Geography and Development.  The final panel in the series will be on March 13 in room 100 of the Gender and Women's Studies Building at 925 N. Tyndall from 5:30-7pm.  A light dinner is provided. Contact Jill at JillMWilliams@email.arizona.edu with questions.  This series is made possible by funding from the UA Green Fund.
