The Bio/Diversity Project Receives Grant from the Green Fund to Launch New Leadership Program
The Bio/Diversity Project was recently awarded approximately $50,000 to launch a new leadership program aimed at fostering the development of environmental leaders committed to both environmental sustainability and diversity and inclusion. The Green Fund is a funding body administered by current University of Arizona students who allocate funding aimed at making the University a more sustainable institution. This funding will allow WISE and project partners to create a structured leadership program to enable UA students to develop skills in collaborative program development and implementation focused on the dual goals of environmental stewardship and diversity and inclusion. In line with the overarching goals of The Bio/Diversity Project, the leadership program will target students from groups traditional under-represented in the environmental sciences and environmental organizations and offer paid positions for about 4 work study eligible students. Being able to pay students for their time and effort is crucial for ensuring that we are able to help support the development of environmental leaders from diverse backgrounds. Applications for the leadership program will open soon. For more information contact Elena Greenberg at ElenaGreenberg@email.arizona.edu.
